Churdhar peak at 3650m or around 12,000 feet is the highest peak in the lower Himalaya and its base can be accessed through a 4 hour drive from Chandigarh. The main peak and its subsidiary peaks present quite a challenge and require a day's camping. There is also an opportunity to do walk to the various campsites used for the climb and then head back to base. This option offers an opportunity do a winter trek in the Himalaya without the need of camping out.
