Green Lake in North Sikkim is steeped in history. As the basecamp for the worlds 3rd highest peak it has been the staging ground for many historic climbs and explorations. As the area is restricted the upside for those who persevere is the opportunity to stand in a vast amphitheatre of mountains in virtual solitude. Being face to face with Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu, regarded the prettiest mountain in the world, is indeed a major highlight of the trek. If you add the mountain views to the experience of walking through some of the prettiest forest stretches imaginable the trek becomes even more memorable.
