JATROPANI

TREK

Legend has it and so Harish Kapadia writes that there is a waterfall nearby which made a humming sound and hence the name Jatropani, the peak of singing waterfall. Jatropani is a perfect fit for a ridge walk offering beautiful views of the Gahrwal and Kumaon Himalayas. The beauty of this trek is that you get to see great views of Nanda Ghunti and Trishul as you enter Gwaldam. In fact you get to see the Himalayan ranges from Kausani. The road-head is a quiet and pretty village offering wonderful views of fields, forests and mountains. From here, an hour of walk will take you to a beautiful meadow where you can see the mountain ranges up close. After almost two days of walk in the forest, you walk through a vast expanse of meadows. You have a couple of options as you climb higher, follow the meadow to your camp, or gain a few hundred metres and reach the ridge from you get fantastic views. We set up two camps before you push for Jatropani. Jatropani is a steady climb from the last camp and if you leave early morning, you can reach the first summit by noon, while the east summit is a further two hours away. You can trace the route back and reach Lohaganj, the road-head back in two days after climbing Jatropani.
