Challenge Level of Trips

You don't need to be a marathon runner to enjoy the outdoors. Look out for challenge level appropriate to your fitness level. Juniper offers trips graded from 1 to 5. Grade 1 contains a low level of challenge while Grade 5 has the highest level of challenge. The rating of an adventure trip involves number of factors.



Case Study Trip Graded 4/5 : The challenge level is best understood if we look closely at a trek. The above image is from Gokyo Lakes, a popular trek to get a view of Mt. Everest in Eastern Nepal. This trek goes up 5500m, duration of the trip is 14 days, highest sleeping height is about 4900m, multiple days of long duration above 8 hours and some sections have an unsettled trail. This trek is rated as a 4/5.



Case Study Trip Graded 2/5 : Here is another example. This image was taken at the Dachigam National Park on the outskirts of Srinagar as part of a Fire & Ice Trip offering, Vale of Kashmir - Srinagar. This trip contains 3 day trips spread over 4 days. The walks are of about 5 to 6 hour duration and maximum elevation gain involved is about 750m. This trip is rated as a 2/5.
