THOUSAND LAKES

TREK

The Thousand Lakes Trek in Western Bhutan was a short but strenuous outing of 5 nights and 6 days and involved an initial forest climb, crossing of multiple small passes finally leading up to the crossing of Jomigue Pass at 4500m. After the Pass the terrain was dominated by picturesque lakes, alpine meadows and many yak herder camps. Paro is an hours drive from the point where the trek finished and is an excellent place to spend a night celebrating the completion of the trek. Prior to the start of the trek we spent time in Paro and Thimphu for a couple days to acclimatise to the altitude. A great way to prepare for the trek was to climb to the Tigers Nest Monastery (2950m)
